This is us: Levi, Vincent & David
That's us – presenting the next generation of digital writing at Europe's biggest entrepreneurship event. Sounds pretty cool, right? But as so often, it all started differently: in the middle of the chaos of 2020, the three of us had a quirky idea. Not a straight path, but an adventure that got rolling surprisingly well. We're starting small, but that's exactly what makes it so much fun.
Motivated to solve a problem
When we first used iPads in class in 2020 (yes, we were still school students back then), we ran into a real problem: our terrible handwriting on the iPad was simply beyond saving. After countless failed attempts with so-called paper-like screen protectors, we'd had enough. So we did the obvious thing – we teamed up with a few classmates and founded a student company. And guess what: in 2023 we were actually named Germany's best student company. Our mission? To make writing on the iPad finally feel like real paper.
2021
The first reviews
After several months of prototyping, the time had finally come: our first product was here, and the first reviews started rolling in! (Back then, PaperX had just one magnetic strip, and it was nowhere near as strong as it is today 😱). Our customers loved it anyway, and the more the numbers grew, the more motivated we became to go all in full-time. But then came our final exams – and sadly, a lot of our customers had to suffer for it (we still apologize for the long delivery times). Dealing with copycats 🐈 wasn't always easy either, but today we're the largest provider of removable paper-like screen protectors in Germany, we appear on TV regularly, and our journey is far from over.
